The last round of the Champions League group stage ended on Wednesday afternoon. In Group E, Atlético de Madrid defeated Lazio 2-0 in the match that took place at the Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium. Griezmann and Samuel Lino scored the winning goals for the hosts.

Thanks to this, the Spanish team advanced to the round of 16, finishing first in Group E. This result gave the club 14 points, ahead of Lazio itself, which also secured a place in the knockout stage by finishing second with 10 points.

Now both teams are back on the field to compete in their respective national tournaments. In the match of the 17th round of the Spanish championship, Atlético de Madrid will face Athletic Bilbao next Saturday at 12:15 (Brazilian time) at the San Mamés Stadium.

In turn, Lazio will also not have an easy life in the 16th round of the Italian championship. This Sunday at 4:45 p.m. at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, the club will face the leader, Inter Milan.

Atlético Madrid started the match putting pressure on Lazio. And the pressure quickly brought results. After six minutes, Samuel Lino came out on the left. Marusic tried to disarm him, but the ball went to the Brazilian, who ran into the penalty area on the left wing. The full-back played low and found Griezmann, who finished the game and opened the scoring.

After conceding a goal early in the match, Lazio had to give everything they had. The Italian team even created a few chances, but did not pose a real threat to goalkeeper Oblak.

Chasing the result, however, Lazio began to leave spaces in defense. And thus Atlético Madrid scored the second goal. After Molina's cross, Hermoso reached the far post to cross the ball first time and score.

However, the video referee called the referee to review the play. Understanding that an Atlético player was involved in the play and was offside, the referee decided to disallow the hosts' second goal.

Five minutes into the second half, Atlético Madrid extended the game by scoring a Brazilian goal. After hits and shots in the penalty area, the ball fell to Samuel Lino. The defender made a beautiful shot for the first time and scored the hosts' second goal in the match.

In the 31st minute, Diego Simeone's team wasted a great opportunity to close the score to 3-0, Memphis took a free kick and goalkeeper Provedel saved it. After the rebound, Morata shot.
