When Apple released its slightly updated AirPods Pro 2 with MagSafe (USB‑C) charging case earlier this year, did not offer the USB-C Charging Case as a separate accessory. While the previous AirPods Pro 2 earbuds — the ones that shipped with the Lightning case — charge in the new case, you should have purchased the AirPods Pro 2 USB-C to get a replacement case for them. But Apple has now lifted that restriction and is selling the USB-C charging case for the AirPods Pro 2 to anyone who wants to buy one. It costs $99.

I suppose some people who bought one of the new iPhone 15 models with USB-C charging might want a USB-C charging case for the AirPod Pro 2 because they only want to carry one cable to charge the iPhone 15 and AirPods Pro 2. Or maybe you've simply lost your lighting-equipped case and decided to switch to USB-C charging.

It's worth noting that the new USB-C charging case is IP54 rated, meaning it's resistant to dust and splashes. The Lightning version of the case does not have a water or dust resistance rating.

Unfortunately, while you can buy the updated AirPods Pro 2 charging case now, shipping dates have been moved to December 26th. 29, so it won't arrive in time for Christmas. But at least you'll have it before New Year's Day.
