Two great idols in Santos' history, Léo and Elano, could return to the club in 2024. Former players were invited by president-elect Marcelo Teixeira to take up positions with Peixe football. Léo was appointed to the position of director in the youth categories. On the other hand, Elano was invited to take over as technical coordinator. The information was first reported by the “UOL” portal.

In fact, Léo and Elano have already met with the new management. The meetings served to smooth out the imbalances and define the plan for 2024. Peixe was relegated to the Serie B of the Brazilian Championship for the first time in its history. Marcelo Teixeira, elected last weekend for a three-year term, will take office as president next Tuesday (19).

Historic names Santos, Léo and Elano are emerging as assets to gain the trust of fans next season. The former left-back, now 48, played ten seasons for Peixe, being the club's biggest winner after the end of the Pelé era and the tenth player to have played the most in the black and white shirt.

Elano, who is now a coach, had three spells as a player, totaling seven seasons at Vila Belmiro. Together with Léo, they won the Brasileirão twice, the Libertadores da América once and the Recopa Sul-Americana once, as well as three Paulista championships. Elano won one more, after Léo retired.
