PATNA: O Adani The Group on Thursday promised to increase the conglomerate's investment in Bihar tenfold, besides investing in new sectors in which it did not have a presence in the eastern state.
Addressing the Bihar Business Connect 2023, Pranav AdaniGeneral Director (Agro, Oil and Gas) of Adani Enterprisessaid the group intends to increase its investment in the state to Rs 8,700 crore from the current Rs 850 crore.
“We will invest in three additional areas and generate 10,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities,” said Pranav Adani on the occasion.
The Adani Group aims to increase its storage capacity from 1 lakh square feet to 65 lakh square feet with an investment of Rs 1,200 crore.
“Two large-scale warehouses will be constructed in the state, one of which will be set up in the capital Patna,” the official said.
Furthermore, the Adani Group plans to increase its storage capacity in Purnea, Begusarai, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Kishanganj and Araria with an investment of Rs 900 crore.
Later in his speech, Pranav Adani said the group wants to expand its municipal gas network in Gaya and Nalanda with an estimated investment of Rs 200 million.
Adani Wilmar, a company belonging to the FMCG conglomerate, will leave its mark in the east of the state.
“Initially, we will start with a wheat processing unit, a solvent extraction unit and a power cogeneration unit,” he said.
In Sasaram and Rohtas, the group said Rs 800 million will be spent to set up rice processing factories.
During the event, the Adani Group representative also announced that it will invest Rs 2,500 crore in cement plants in Warisaliganj and Mahabal.
“Our goal is to produce 10 million tons of cement annually and our investments should generate around 3,000 jobs,” he stated.
The third area the conglomerate intends to enter is the manufacture of smart meters.
“Now Bihar is moving towards smart meters. We will install over 28 lakh smart meters in Siwan, Saran, Gopalganj, Vaishali and Samastipur to bring automation in the power sector,” he said.
Investments in manufacturing smart meters would be around Rs 3,100 crore.
