A 4.2 magnitude earthquake shook the town of Canlaon in Negros Oriental on Wednesday at 3:58 a.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

MANILA, Philippines – A 4.2 magnitude earthquake shook the city of Canlaon in Negros Oriental on Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake happened at 3:58 am

It was of volcanic-tectonic origin and had a depth of focus of one kilometer.

The epicenter was located northwest of the city of Canlaon.

Phivolcs said the instrumental Intensity II was recorded in the city of La Carlota, Negros Oriental.

He added that no material damage or aftershocks are expected.
