France Telcom Shows Interest in Local Investment

With telecommunication companies saying they expect buyouts and mergers soon within the sector, France Telecom, one of the largest telecommunications firms in the world, has reportedly express an interest in Cambodia’s fiercely competitive market.

Chief Executive Offier Stephane Richard said the company could consider investing in the former French colonies Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, where it is already installing new lines for the state telcom operator, according to the Bloomberg news agency. [Read full article…]

Cambodia Tries to Fix Lack of trained Midwives, Nurse

Cambodia is currently facing a shortage of trained nurses and midwives, a government official said. “Now we have a challenge with the issue of a lack in the number of nurses,” said Virya Koy, the Health Ministry’s nursing and midwifery bureau chief,  adding that  government health service currently employees about 5,000 midwives and 9,000 nurses.
