Helmet Saves Your Lives

Helmet Saves Your Lives

“Three people die every day from road traffic accidents in Cambodia,” Rithy Chau, MPH, MHS, PAC, explained at February’s All Employee Hospital Meeting.  In an effort to encourage all SHCH employees to wear helmets when riding on motorbikes, Dr. Rithy shared some valuable information.  None of us were surprised to hear that traffic increases by more than 10% every year.

In the last three years, deaths from traffic accidents have doubled.  Sadly, out of the 19,879 motorbike casualties in 2008, 93% were not wearing helmets.  As a result, head injuries accounted for 44% of the injuries.  Wear your helmet whenever you ride on a motorbike as the driver or as the passenger.

- Did you know that Cambodia has the second highest road traffic fatality rate in the region?

In general, I observed that nearly 90 percent of people in Phnoom Penh understand the advantages of wearing helmet. I support the law requiring people to put on it in order to protect fatal accidents by accident.

You’re right, I definitely support this idea, even though many people are not willing to ware helmet because they feel tough and sometime allergic to their nose, but lives are the most important compare everything. I am happy to see our government reinforce the helmet law. Thanks,

I’m in Australia and i guess the market here is smaller than a lot of other places. I did find one site jobcommunity.com.au which was helpful. They are currently doing an update at the momemnet. people should check them out. Thanks again for the informative read and I look forward to coming back soon.
